Description

Hamdi Arpacı (from Birecik town of Urfa province, southeastern Turkey) came to Istanbul in late 1960s. The opened his first stall at corner of a car park near Yeni Cami (The New Mosque). That little grill and stall served the vendors and customers for 7 years offering various tasty kebabs. In time his fame began to spread and he founded the Hamdi Meat Restaurant. At first he bought the 3 storeys of the building he serves today. Later, he bought the whole building.

Hamdi Restaurant gained his fame throught the delicious kebabs and mezes which are prepared with authentic methods.

The rooftop of the building is one of the iconic spots in Istanbul.
